Walk4Hearing Volunteers Needed

September 21, 2022

The HLAA Walk4Hearing is a national program that reaches out to the more than 48 million people with hearing loss, their families, friends, and hearing health professionals to raise awareness about hearing loss, good hearing health, and communication access. The event will take place in-person on October 9th, 2022, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC. There are a range of opportunities throughout walk day that include registration table, selling raffle tickets, activity booths, snack station and more!

 

The event starts at 11AM, but we will need volunteers before, during and after. The form below has information about each if you would like to sign up. Thank you for considering helping us out! It will be a great day and an awesome way to build connections within the community and to learn more about other health professions and resources!

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald Family Room is located in the North Carolina Children’s Hospital in Chapel Hill. Volunteers are needed to help provide a warm, friendly, and supportive atmosphere for families of hospitalized children. The room provides a “home away from home” inside the hospital walls where family members of seriously ill inpatient children can take a respite from patient care while remaining only steps away from their child’s bedside. Every year, over 150 volunteers support Orange Literacy by providing office support and vital tutoring services to adults throughout Orange County. Enrich offers free English language tutoring to local non-native speakers at Carrboro Elementary on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Members are paired with one non-native English speaker and meet once or twice a week for an hour at the school just to chat.

TAP is looking for volunteers who can:

  • help with office administrative tasks
  • share talents and passions in the arts (music, drama, visual arts, etc.)
  • serve on one of our 4 volunteer program committees
  • assist individuals with aphasia on their Communication Support Team (CST)
  • participate in fundraising and advocacy events

You or your group can volunteer for one-time events around North Carolina and recurring opportunities in our offices or at Camp Royall, outside Pittsboro. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. In general, volunteers do not work directly with individuals on the autism spectrum.
